Improvements to Content:- Aware technology - New technology in Content-Aware Fill, Move, and Patch smoothly blends areas containing gradients, like skies, so you can create seamless, realistic results like never before.

Smarter Smart Guides:- Forget trying to align multiple shapes or objects at exact distances from one another on canvas. Now you can quickly see the distance in pixels between objects so you can lay out content with precision.

Desktop fonts from Typekit:- Choose the fonts you need from the Typekit library, sync them to your desktop, and get immediate access to them in your Photoshop font menu. Photoshop will even automatically replace missing fonts in your documents.

Font Search:- Search for fonts by name, and see instant previews of each font to zero in on the perfect one.

Expanded 3D printing capabilities:- Now you can see exactly where and how Photoshop repaired your 3D meshes so its easy to refine your designs in third-party 3D modeling apps. Get more accurate renderings of your models prior to printing thanks to WYSIWYG previews. And get support for more 3D printers and service providers.

Adobe Generator enhancements:- Simplify the process of naming Generator assets and get greater flexibility in organizing the output from Generator by setting document-wide defaults, and by specifying subfolders for exported assets. Generator also offers new APIs so developers can create even more powerful plug-ins.

Adobe Camera Raw 8 enhancements:- Heal images, fix perspective distortions, and create vignettes with greater precision. Plus, access an interactive histogram, before/after previews, and more.

Improved Windows 8.1 stylus support:- Get to work quickly and comfortably with your stylus on Windows 8.1 devices, and enjoy smoother brush strokes thanks to higher-frequency sampling.

Hello, and welcome to my page - Learning Photoshop - Tutorials for Beginners. If youre new to Photoshop, then this is a good place to start. Topic 1: Using the Brush Tool
In this lesson, well learn how to use the Brush tool so you can start creating your own digital paintings in Photoshop.

Topic 2: Working with Layers in Photoshop
Layers are one of Photoshops most basic yet useful features. They allow you to make your Photoshop project more organized, and make editing much more efficient. Learning how to work with layers is one of the first things that every Photoshop beginner should start with.

Topic 3: The Rectangular and Elliptical Marquee Tools
In this lesson, well get introduced to the rectangular and elliptical marquee tools in Photoshop. These are selection tools. They allow you to select portions of your Photoshop document so that you can isolate those areas and edit them - you can paint over them, apply filters, transfer/move/extract those areas, etc. - without affecting the other areas outside of the selection.

Topic 4: The Free Transform / Transform Commands
The free transform / transform commands allow you to apply transformation changes to the contents of a layer. These transformation changes include scaling, rotation, skewing, flipping, etc...

Topic 5: Transferring Images to a New Photoshop Document

Introduction to Layer Masks in Photoshop

Layer masking is a very useful feature in Photoshop that allows you to hide some areas (make them invisible) of a layer. A layer mask can be altered using the brush tool. To hide areas using a layer mask, you must paint the mask using black. To make areas fully visible, you use white. Using gray will make areas translucent (not quite visible, but not quite invisible as well).

Ive posted three different videos about layer masks here. Theyre all introductory videos about layer masks, but there are some things in one video that you might not learn from the others, so Ive decided to add them all here.

This first one is by Nathan Ridley from Graphics District. He uses Photoshop 7 in this tutorial, but you can still follow along even if youre using CS2 or CS3.

This next one is from IceFlowStudios on YouTube. The speaker also talks a little bit about vector shapes in the end. But its ok if youre not familiar with what vector shapes are and what you can do with them. The main point of these videos is for you to learn how to use layer masks and you dont really need knowledge in vector shapes in order to achieve that. The speaker simply wanted to show an example that uses a layer mask on a vector shape. The Photoshop version used in this video is CS3.
